Extended Biography: Ms. Coleman is an art and music instructor in Phoenix’s east valley and currently serves as a Commissioner on the Chandler Art Commission. She was the Founder and former Executive Director of the Art on Boston Community School of the Arts, as well as the Founder and former Executive Director of the Phoenix Conservatory of Music, now in their 11th year in service to the communities of Phoenix. Both are 501c3 charitable organizations. She also served as Director of Classical Guitar Studies at Glendale Community College from 1987 to 2000 and Arizona State University-West from 1987-1991. Ms. Coleman holds a Master’s Degree in Music Performance (Classical Guitar) from Arizona State University, (ASU) and a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance and Education from The University of Texas at Dallas. Ms. Coleman also studied at Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma in 1979-1981 where she hosted a successful cable TV program on KEY-TV 3 called the “Guitar Workshop”.
Bonnie Lou has traveled extensively, including as an arts education ambassador to Cuba, as well as to Spain and Italy to study with the guitar greats such as; Jose Tomas, Alirio Diaz, F. Moreno Torroba, Robert Guthrie, Enric Madrigera, Christopher Parkening and Andre Segovia. She began her formal musical studies at the Royal Conservatory of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, at the age of 15, where she taught underclassmen, to help pay her tuition.
